Tussar silk

Tussar silk, also known as Tussah or Kosa silk, is a coarse, copperish silk fabric made from the cocoons of silk moths. The silkworms feed on plants like asan and Arjun, lending it a distinct charm that sets it apart from cultivated silk varieties. Pure tussar silk sarees are hand spun and colored with natural dyes. The use of natural vegetable dyes makes the fabric eco-friendly and sustainable.

It is less lustrous than mulberry silk, but has its own unique feel and appeal. Tussar silk is mainly cultivated in India, particularly in the states of Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal. Bihar produces about 66% of Indian tussar, although much of it is woven in West Bengal and Orissa

Tussar silk is mainly used for furnishings and interiors. It has a coarse texture with a lustrous sheen giving it a very royal look
