  • Originating in the pit looms in the Bagalkot district of North Karnataka, Ilkal sarees are woven using the Tope Teni technique. This means that the pallu is woven separately and then attached to the body warp by a sequence of interlocked loops. The pallav and the borders of this saree are distinctive and make the weave ICONIC.

Care information

Dry clean only. To protect the delicate threads of the sari, please avoid any pressure on the tips- avoid brush cleaning, or wringing. Iron on medium heat or spread a towel on top of the saree during ironing. Steam iron is recommended. It is ideal to dry clean stained silk sarees immediately.
